Police identify Germantown victim of fatal Monday morning shooting

Philadelphia Police have identified the victim of Monday morning’s fatal shooting in Germantown as Lonnie Workman.

The 30-year-old victim lived on the same block of Blakemore Street where investigators believe an argument led to him being shot once in the side around 10:40 a.m. and pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Workman’s Facebook profile identifies him as a member of Martin Luther King High School’s Class of 2000 and an independent handyman working in carpentry, plumbing and electrical jobs.

Police are currently seeking the alleged gunman who shot Workman. The shooting victim pleaded guilty to drug charges in 2004 and carrying a firearm without a license, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person three years later. In 2009, he was found not guilty of aggravated assault and assault by a prisoner.
