Police: Dispute over dog waste prompts fatal shots

Police say a dispute over dog waste led to a shooting that killed a Philadelphia man.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says a man in his 40s was shot and killed yesterday afternoon after confronting a neighbor about his dogs. Small says the dog owner pulled a gun and fired multiple shots, striking the other man twice in the neck.

Police say the 27-year-old owner of a Chihuahua and German shepherd was taken into custody by police. A police spokeswoman says the younger man said he and his neighbor had struggled over the gun before it fired.

Small said it wasn’t the first time the men had quarreled over the dogs.
