Police arrest Delaware man accused of stabbing parents
Greenwood police have arrested a man accused of stabbing his elderly parents over the weekend.
According to police, 51-year-old Ricky A. Brewington used a butcher knife to stab his 80-year-old mother and 82-year-old father in the kitchen of their shared home in Greenwood around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
After the incident, Brewington called 911 to report what had happened. His parents received multiple stab wounds, but were able to drive to the Greenwood Fire Department for medical attention. They were transferred to Nanticoke Hospital where they were both admitted in stable condition.
Brewington was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He’s being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $150,000 bail.
Police are still trying to determine the cause the incident.
