Phoenixville cancels annual mock-Iditarod after no one signs up

There won’t an annual Iditarod parody in Phoenixville this year, since not a single person sign up for the event.

Despite decent turnout in years past, “zero people” signed up to form teams and race around the borough in the Philadelphia Area Idiotarod — a mockup of Alaska’s 1,100-mile sled dog race.

The West Chester Daily Local reports the time change may have played a role in the lack of interest. Typically held alongside the borough’s July Fourth events, the race was moved to August this year, and then pushed to September before being canceled.
