Philly’s safest neighborhood
It’s been more than 24 hours since we’ve Fed you a list relating to how Philadelphia ranks among other cities. You must be jonesing something awful for another. Luckily we’ve got one: The Safest Neighborhoods in America’s Top Cities.
Walletpop.com released the rankings, based on data from NeighborhoodScout and FBI stats from local law enforcement agencies.
And the lucky winner for safest neighborhood in Philadelphia? Fox Chase — or, part of Fox Chase.
The highlighted portion of ZIP code 19111 ranks safer than 70 percent of all U.S. neighborhoods, and comes in at No. 362 out of 7,685 big city neighborhoods on the safety scale.
NeighborhoodScout provided the following data on the area:
median housing value: $216,728
more walkable than 88 percent of U.S. neighborhoods
more sophisticated than 81 percent of all U.S. neighborhoods
quieter than 65 percent of all U.S. neighborhoods
For the record, NeighborhoodScout’s definition of sophistication reads:
”Wealthy, educated, executives and professionals, who have urbane tastes in books, food, and travel, whether they actually live in a big city, or choose to reside in a small town. In big or medium-sized cities, urban sophisticates tend to frequent art institutions such as opera, symphonies, ballet, live theatre, and museums.”
