Philly-based gelato maker serving up world’s best ice cream

Capogiro’s distribution is nothing to sneeze at. The gelato maker has four Philadelphia cafes and distributes to retailers around the country. And according to National Geographic, its flavors are nothing to sneeze at, either.

The Philly-based company ranks first on National Geographic Travel’s list of top places to eat ice cream. Not just in the country, but around the globe. Capogiro beat out locations in Argentina, Australia and Italy, whose Perche No! happens to rank 10th on the list.

“The artisan gelatos and sorbettos handcrafted each day . . . include flavors not seen anywhere else,” reads the write-up for Capogiro.

Second place went to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard in St. Louis. All 10 places are part of National Geographic’s Food Journeys of a Lifetime book.
