Baseball legend dies

    The oldest living member of the Philadelphia Phillies has died.

    A 1936 graduate of Villanova, Art Mahan played first baseman for the Phillies in the 1940 season, batting .244 with a pair of home runs and 39 RBIs.

    He returned to Villanova in 1950 to coach the baseball team through 1972. In 1961, he was named director of athletics, a job he held until he retired in 1978..

    He was 97.
