Philadelphia’s three-day breast cancer walk begins today

Over the next three days, thousands of women and their loved ones will walk 60 miles around Philadelphia to raise awareness for breast cancer, treatments and a cure.

The local Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure will drape several neighborhoods and nearby suburbs in pink, and walkers will camp put Friday and Saturday nights to rest during the fundraising event. You can track the route and campsites here.

The event kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony in honor of those who’ve lost their lives to breast cancer. Not walking or pledging? Cheering stations have been set up to help motivate the walkers with signs, music and smiles, and it all culminates Sunday with the closing ceremony at the Navy Yard.

Similar walks are taking place all over the country.
