Philadelphia police officer charged with assault

Philadelphia police officer John King was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and intimidation among other charges from the District Attorney’s office on Friday.

While off duty and not in uniform, King, 54, got into a heated and physical argument; pulling his gun on a security guard at Mercy Hospital in 2009, reports the District Attorney.

The incident began after the security guard asked King to sign in at the visitor’s entrance at the hospital.  King turned himself in on Friday to the Philadelphia Police Department.
