Philadelphia Media Network to make its home on East Market Street

It’s official. By next year, Philadelphia Media Network will call East Market Street home.

Publisher Greg Osberg announced today the company, which puts out the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com, will move from the recently purchased 400 N. Broad St. building to the old Strawbridge’s building at Eighth and Market.

Developer Bart Blatstein bought the current building in July and says he doesn’t intend to tear it down for the mixed-use development he’s planning.

The Inquirer reports the new space will be just 125,000 sq. ft. (that’s compared with the current 525,000 sq. ft.), and will involve the relocation of hundreds of employees. The 18-month lease is expected to begin around July 1.
