Philadelphia high schoolers celebrate Democracy Day

Students from five Philadelphia high schools will be at the National Constitution Center for Rock the Vote’s Democracy Day activities.

World Communication Charter School, Central High School, Philadelphia Military Academy, Fairhill Community High School and Constitution High School are among thousands of schools across the country taking part in the Democracy Class, a one-class-period program that uses pop culture, video, classroom discussion and a mock election to educate students about elections and voting.
Former Pa. Gov. Ed Rendell will appear alongside Power 99 FM DJ and local recording artist Nikki Jean to talk about elections and help the students register to vote.

And if you’re wondering later what all that music coming out of the Constitution Center is, that’d be the afternoon Rock the Vote pep rally.
