Philadelphia candidates owe campaign fines, city late on discipline

Nineteen candidates for Philadelphia offices owe campaign fines to the City Commissioners. Four of them are council members and none of them have been disciplined.

Today’s It’s Our Money report finds Council members Darrell Clarke, Curtis Jones, Maria Quinones-Sanchez and Blondell Reynolds Brown all owe the city for failing to file campaign finance reports.

Clarke and Sanchez paid their fines after prodding from IOM. The others remain tardy and say they never received notices supposedly sent in July.

Why haven’t they been disciplined? The District Attorney’s office says it hasn’t received any notification from the Commissioners Office.
