Pennsylvania lawmakers set to get first pay raise in 2 years
Pennsylvania lawmakers are about to get their first pay raise in two years, padding what is already the nation’s second-highest salary for legislators.
Pennlive.com reported Wednesday the 253-seat General Assembly will get a 1.34 percent increase next month, raising rank-and-file pay by $1,140 to more than $86,000.
Leaders’ compensation will also go up, topping out at nearly $135,000 for the House speaker and the Senate president pro tempore.
State law gives legislators automatic cost-of-living increases.
