Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission will review plan for Society Hill curb cuts

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has called for a full review of PennDOT’s work in Society Hill to make the curb cuts ADA compliant.

Residents of the neighborhood want the history preserved, which has resulted in disagreements over the look of the curb cuts and the use of cheek walls on historic properties to accommodate the change in grade of the sidewalk.
PlanPhilly has been reporting on the issue, as Society Hill residents hope for curb cuts that match the neighborhood’s brick sidewalks. Councilman James Kenney last week supported the neighborhood efforts.
