Pennsylvania governor’s father, Bill Wolf, dies at age 95

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s father has died at age 95.

Because of the death of Bill Wolf, the governor won’t participate in a Sept. 11 observance on Sunday at the crash site of United Airlines Flight 93.

Bill Wolf was a York County businessman who saw his son elected governor two years ago.

A spokesman for the Democratic governor says Bill Wolf died Friday and arrangements are pending. The governor’s office hasn’t disclosed where the death occurred.

The Wolfs have deep roots in York County. Since taking office the governor has continued to live in Mount Wolf, a town named for an ancestor.

Flight 93 took off from Newark, New Jersey, on Sept. 11, 2001, with 44 people aboard, bound for San Francisco. It crashed in a Pennsylvania field, killing everyone aboard.
