Pennsylvania American Water Company finalizes automated meter-reading system

Good news for the water company means bad news for door-to-door scammers. Norristown residents should be extra wary of anyone knocking on their door claiming to be from the water department, now that Pennsylvania American Water Company will soon be able to read meters from the curb.
The company is spending about $800,000 to upgrade the town’s meters so company employees don’t have to access the property, as KYW reports. The final phase begins tomorrow. Once Kentrel Inc., the private contractor, has installed an upgraded meter at each home, water company employees can read the meters from the curb, or even their trucks.
