Paychecks arrive late for some Philly school district employees

Talk about a blue Christmas. CBS 3 reported earlier today that a number of Philadelphia school district employees didn’t get their most recent paychecks in the mail in time for the holiday.

WHYY’s Emma Jacobs is looking into this and will have a report later.

A district spokesman maintains that the checks were mailed on time and blames the U.S. Postal Service and a heavy volume of holiday-related deliveries.

Some 15 percent of the school district’s employees get paper checks in the mail. They may be better off signing up for direct deposit.
