Pay increase for some Wilmington workers

More than 200 city workers have a new three year contract that includes a pay increase.

More than 200 city workers have a new three year contract that includes a pay increase.  Members of AFSCME Local 1102 will get a 2.5% salary increase retroactive to Fiscal Year 2008, in addition to a retroactive pay increase of 2% for 2009.  The union had been working under a previous three-year contract that expired in 2007.  Because the three-year deal is retroactive to 2007, the contract will expire June 30, 2010.

Under the contract, union members will now contribute minimal amounts to their health plan on a bi-weekly basis.  Individuals will contribute $5.00, employees plus one family member will contribute $10.00, and families will contribute $15.00.

Members of Local 1102 work in various city departments including Public Safety, Finance, Public Works, Licenses and Inspections, and Parks and Recreation.
