Paulsboro Refinery oil spill mostly contained

The Delaware River and air quality remain safe around the Paulsboro Refinery, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection says.

The area around the South Jersey refinery is being monitored following last week’s oil spill, which has mostly been contained.
According to the Gloucester County Times, about 150,000 barrels of crude oil have been removed from an emergency containment berm. There are still 10,000 to 20,000 barrels in the berm of a mix of spilled oil, rain water and foam used to help prevent a fire after the spill.

More than 6 million gallons of oil spilled into an emergency containment area last week.
