Patterson official installed as New Jersey Supreme Court justice

As Archbishop Charles Chaput was installed yesterday in Philadelphia, New Jersey had an appointment of its own. Anne Patterson took her oath of office as a state Supreme Court justice.

For some time, Patterson’s appointment was in limbo as Gov. Chris Christie and Senate Democrats debated her nomination. Senate President Stephen Sweeney vowed to block Christie’s nomination of Patterson until the two men reached an agreement for Patterson to replace Justice Roberto Rivera-Soto, as the Star-Ledger details.

Patterson, 52, was a partner at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti.
