PAL day has Philly teens shadowing in City Hall

Teens from throughout Philadelphia are getting an inside look at city government during the Police Athletic League’s mentoring day.

 

Ashley Kloter who has ambitions of being a psychiatrist is shadowing Philadelphia’s Inspector General. 

“I think it’s a very good opportunity because you get an insight of how the city works and we get to meet a lot of new people,” she said.

First Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross says the students are pillars in their community and give back through volunteer service.

“Some of the relationships that are built between these PAL officers and some of these young people is remarkable,” Ross said.

Some Police Athletic League centers lost their homes when school district ended extracurricular activities at certain buildings. The city is working to find them new spots inside recreation centers.
