Oxford professor comes to Center City for rock, paper, scissors tournament

#rockpaperscissors – Leave it to a college professor to take some of the fun out of rock, paper, scissors. Prof. Marcus du Sautoy came to Philadelphia from Oxford University to play in a tournament at the Raven Lounge.

He made it to the quarter finals by turning the childhood game into a math equation.

“So I actually used the decimal expansion of pi to make my choices to make my decision on whether to use rock, paper or scissor,” he told KYW. The Raven Lounge hosts weekly “RPS” tournaments, but du Sautoy’s appearance was a unique one, and it was filmed for BBC television series called The Code.
