An online fundraiser to benefit the nine children of Tamara and Philip Seidle has raised over $26,000 since last week.

Funeral services were held for Tamara Seidle yesterday, who authorities say was fatally shot last week by her recently divorced husband, Neptune Township Sgt. Philip Seidle, who faces murder, weapons and child endangerment charges. Authorities say the shooting apparently was spurred by an ongoing child custody dispute.

The couple had nine children together, ranging in age from 7 to 24.

Hundreds mourned Tamara Seidle at Holy Spirit Church in Asbury Park, recalling that she always practiced forgiveness and gave thanks despite her struggles.

Kirsten Seidle, the oldest daughter in the family, thanked the community for its support on Facebook last week.

“I want to say thank you for all of the texts, private messages, phone calls, and wall posts from everyone. Even if I may not have answered you I received your messages and truly appreciate them. I am asking for privacy in this sensitive time for me and my loved ones. In my mother’s memory, I ask for people to continue to leave positive loving messages on my her page,” she wrote.

“I want to thank Ian Nugent for starting the GoFundMe page for our family. We deeply appreciate it. Again, thank you to everyone.”
