Outrage in rape of 12-year-old by 4 Philadelphia youth

    Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Deputy Commissioner Susan Slawson today expressed outrage at the rape of a 12-year-old girl by several boys at a Southwest Philadelphia recreation center.

    Slawson told reporters at a press conference that there were three staff members at the center at the time of the incident, and the center was busy with several different activities, including line dancing and basketball.

    The incident happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. in a stairwell at the Francis Myers Recreation Center at 58th Street and Kingsessing Avenue.
