One night in Wilmington: Multiple shootings, one dead

Five people were shot in the city of Wilmington last night; one of the victims died at the hospital.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Wilmington police were called to a home in the 900 block of Brown Street after gunshots were reported. WPD said the first arriving officers found two victims inside; a 28-year-old man shot in his right leg and a 51-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her abdominal area. Both victims were taken to Christiana Hospital and are listed in stable and critical condition, respectively.

While officers were securing the crime scene on Brown Street, police learned of three more shooting victims being treated at St. Francis and Wilmington Hospital.

All of the victims at those hospitals had arrived in personal vehicles.
