On this day in 2010: Cliff Lee returned to the Phillies

On this day in 2010, Philadelphia was abuzz with the good news: Cliff Lee was coming back to the Phillies.

Better yet, he came to us despite a lucrative offer from the Yankees. It was a win all around.

There’ve been trades and deals all month long for the Phils, but we haven’t seen the excitement that came with the Dec. 14, 2010 announcement: “Cliff Lee, the left-handed, Cy-Young winner who helped the Phils reach the World Series in 2009 will return for the 2011 season.”

    ‘Twas a Merry Cliffmas indeed.
