Officer indicted

A high-ranking Philadelphia Police Officer was arrested this morning on corruption charges.

Daniel Castro, head of the department’s traffic division, is charged with bribery and extortion.

Castro has been accused of “hiring his own personal repo man to collect on a debt by using violence and intimidation,” WHYY’s Susan Phillips reports. He’s the first high-ranking officer to be indicted since the ’80s.
