Officer arrested

An officer from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 2nd District has been arrested for assault. The 54-year-old has been charged for a March 2010 incident that was caught on camera.

Aleksande Shwarz, a 21-year veteran of the department, arrested someone for assault on March 4 on Roosevelt Boulvard near Napfle Street in the Northeast. But surveillance video shows it was Shwarz who did the assaulting.

The Daily News reports Shwarz has been charged with simple assault, abuse of office and unsworn falsification. He’s been suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss and is place on $5,000 bail.
