Ocean City 5K Hero Walk draws more than 800 walkers

An Ocean City 5K aims to raise awareness about the importance of having a designated driver, and on Sunday, the group behind the event hosted some 800 participants.

The Press of Atlantic City says the 5K HERO Walk, which goes along the Ocean City boardwalk, draw more than 800 walkers – all with a goal of combining to raise $100,000.

The campaign is well represented in the area, with billboards, an education program in schools and DUI prevention programs at sporting events.

The Press of Atlantic City says the campaign has spread across the region and into neighboring states.
