Occupy Philadelphia sets up at Independence Mall

When the Occupy movement was ousted from its inaugural home at Dilworth Plaza, some may have thought that the end, in fact, was near. But over the short and unseasonably mild winter, occupiers have kept their message alive and are beginning to regroup for the months ahead.

I mean, really. It’s an election year, of course they are.

According to the group’s website, Occupy Philadelphia began “Spring Training with an occupation to fight corporations, economic injustice & police brutality,” on Friday, April 6, at Rittenhouse Square.

Occupiers made their way through the city and have set up camp at Independence Mall, claiming the space as “one in which to grow, learn, heal, play & celebrate.”
