NW Playlist’s guide to New Year’s Eve

The Northwest Playlist Guide to New Year’s Eve With 2012 hours away, NewsWorks has compiled a list of parties and New Year’s Eve specials happening throughout Northwest Philadelphia for those who might be scrambling to make plans. East Falls’ In Riva… (4116 Ridge Avenue) celebrated their opening in early December, and they’re ringing in the New Year with a Southern Italian-influenced four-course menu and Bruton beer pairing.

For $35, customers can choose between tuna carpaccio or artichoke bruschetta for their first course, lamb meatballs or black bass piccata for their second, and short rib pizza or duck pizza for their third, followed by vanilla gelato for dessert. The Bruton beer pairing is an additional $20, while the punk rockers Carousel Kings will perform on the outdoor deck with $2 draft beers beginning at 9:30 p.m. Cin Cin (7838 Germantown Avenue) in Chestnut Hill offers a four-course menu for $57.50. Beginning with hors d’oeuvres and followed by seared jungle scallops with baby greens and Fuji apple sauce, the entrée choices include Scottish salmon, Maine lobster and ginseng crispy duck. A white chocolate milk fruitcake with fresh berries for dessert concludes the meal, along with champagne at midnight. Jake and Cooper’s Wine Bar (4365-67 Main Street) in Manayunk will feature an a la carte menu with some new items like filet mignon, Cioppino stew, veal chop, new specialty pizza and surf and turf. The jazz trio Aquasession will provide the music for the evening. A few blocks west on Main Street, Lucky’s Last Chance (4421 Main Street) will offer two floors of live DJ music with a two-hour open bar from 9 to 11 p.m., for $35. This also includes a hot food buffet from 9 to 10:30 p.m. and a continental breakfast at 1:30 a.m. And Coyle’s Café (6080 Ridge Avenue) in Roxborough will have another unpretensious Saturday night with karaoke and a pizza buffet at midnight, with no cover.

December 31 happens once a year. Choose wisely when celebrating it.
