Nutter, Ramsey detail police department’s five-year plan

The Philadelphia Police Department has updated its 2008 crime fighting strategy, some details of which Commissioner Charles Ramsey and Mayor Michael Nutter announced today.

The progress report includes crime stats and a five-year plan. One stat worth mentioning before WHYY’s Tom MacDonald brings us more information: “The number of Part I crimes in Philadelphia was 75,051 in 2009, and 76,334 for 2010. This is the first time since 1978 that total Part I crimes were less than 80,000 in a year.”
