Nutter announces new organization to dissolve two old ones

    Update: Nutter has announced the creation of Philadelphia Works, Inc., which will replace the PWDC and PWIB. He says the new system, which will be created over the next year, will be easier for employers and employees to navigate. Frick will serve as the PWI board of directors chairman.

    Original report: This afternoon at 3 p.m., Mayor Michael Nutter is expected to announce changes to the public workforce system and increased collaboration between the Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation and the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board.

     

    He’ll be joined by Drexel University President John Fry, Diversified Search Vice President Joseph Frick, PWDC President and CEO Mark Edwards and former EARN Center client Joan Wilson.
