Numbers of Delaware unemployed drop
The Philadelphia-Wilmington-Atlantic City region shows a 1.9% increase in the numbers of unemployed
Delaware’s unemployment numbers are still higher than they were a year ago, but have dropped almost a point from their high in February and March.
June numbers released Friday by the Delaware Department of Labor show Delaware at 8.5%. Nationally, the unemployment numbers are 9.5%. That translates to 36,300 people out of work. There were 1,000 more people employed at this time last year.
The number of jobs in the first state grew in June. 800 jobs were added, most of them were in the leisure and hospitality industry.
A county by county break down shows Wilmington with the highest numbers of unemployed in the state.
