Nuclear report finds things in order at Oyster Creek

It’s largely good news for the nation’s oldest nuclear plant. Oyster Creek in Lacey Township, N.J., has been found up to par in a report from New Jersey’s Nuclear Review Task Force.

Commissioned by Gov. Chris Christie in March, the task force looked at conditions at Oyster Creek, as well as the Salem 1 and 2 and Hope Creek plants in Lower Alloways Creek. The report evaluated the plants’ emergency preparedness in the wake of a nuclear tragedy similar to the one in Japan.

The reactors were designed to withstand natural disasters, but the report did make some recommendations for continued improve. Toms River Patch sites a few of the advisories, and you can read the full report here.
