Northwest Philly rapper dies in weekend shooting

The local hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Tommy Hill, the Philly-bred rapper.

Hill, whose real name is John Wilson, died Sunday after being shot Friday outside a bar at Stenton and Mt. Pleasant avenues.
Hill’s career began with help from former mob boss “Skinny Joey” Merlino, but took a backset when he went to prison in 2004 for selling crack. He’d been living in Atlanta since his group, the RAM Squad, broke up.

NewsWorks’ Brian Hickey will have more details later on this developing story.
