A group that is trying to reinvent charitable giving is starting out its efforts by giving to others.

Generocity is a new non-profit that is starting from the ground up. The organization surveyed 5,000 people about their favorite charities and will now give $25,000 to 770 charities that were identified in the survey. Sandra Baldino founded Generocity. She says the group wants to change the way people think about giving even a few dollars, and will use the survey information to highlight worthy non-profits.

    Baldino:
We will have built a very comprehensive database of non-profits and causes in the region so that you can look things up and decide how you can help those particular organizations.

The organization’s web site will not be officially launched until this fall, but Baldino says it will give people who want to make a small contribution, be it in time or money, an outlet to donate.
