Nominate your favorite renovated storefront in Northwest Phila. for the 2012 Citywide Storefront Challenge

The City of Philadelphia Commerce Department and the Community Design Collaborative have issued a call for nominations for the 2012 Citywide Storefront Challenge.

The challenge, which recognizes storefronts in Philadelphia that have undergone significant improvements since October 2010, aims to promote reinvestment in local storefronts and to show the connection between strong design and successful neighborhood business development.

Awards will be given to businesses for the most unique signs, best window display, most environmentally-friendly construction, best historical restoration and others.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 14. Awards will be presented to businesses at a ceremony on Oct. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture at 1218 Arch Street.

Previous award winners in Northwest Philadelphia include Imperial Chinese Restaurant with the ‘Unique Sign Award’ and Mt. Airy USA with the ‘Instigator Award’.
