No federal grant for South Philly Promise Neighborhood

    Kenny Gamble’s South Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood won’t be getting help from the feds.

    The neighborhood around Audenried High School and Vare Middle School is now part of Gamble’s Universal Companies under the School District of Philadelphia’s turnaround plan. But the Daily News reports it’s not among the Promise Neighborhoods awarded millions in implementation grants from the federal government.

    Neighborhoods in Buffalo, N.Y., Minneapolis, Kentucky, San Antonio and Hayward, Calif., won.
