Nj Transit partnering with Google for smartphone payments

For some NJ Transit customers, payments are about to get easier.

The transportation agency has announced a partnership with Google Wallet for a free mobile app that enables wireless data transmissions between to objects. In this case, those objects are a smartphone and NJ Transit’s ticket purchase system.

The Associated Press reports the phone-swiping payment system will roll out at New York’s Penn Station and Newark’s Air Tran station, plus some bus routes.

Google Wallet supports Citi MasterCards and Google prepaid cards.

Feed the Feed: Would merging technologies make you more inclined to use other services? Would this partnertship, for example, motivate you to buy a certain phone to make ticket purchases easier, or lead you to travel with NJ Transit more just for the sake of convenient ticket purchases?
