N.J. Senate president taking to Twitter

New Jersey’s state Senate president says he’s taking to Twitter to answer citizens’ questions once per week.Democrat Steve Sweeney says he will answer at least five questions from the public every Thursday.

He says it’s a way to be in closer contact with constituents on topics from policy to football.

Sweeney is already on Twitter. But with just over 1,600 followers he’s not nearly as popular there as two other New Jersey politicians. Gov. Chris Christie has 418,000 followers and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker has more than 1.4 million.
