N.J. River Line crashes into car, killing driver

A train from New Jersey Transit’s River Line collided with a car in Trenton, killing the driver and injuring his passenger.

A spokeswoman for NJ Transit tells The Times of Trenton that the car crossed into the path of the train against warning signals in the area of Lalor Street and Route 129. The train slammed into the driver’s side of the car and dragged it 200 feet.

There were no injuries reported among the 28 passengers aboard the train.

The crash caused service on the light rail line to be suspended between Cass Street in Trenton and Bordentown, and it was not clear when service would resume.
