N.J. quality of life index up since post-Sandy dip, poll finds

As the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy approaches, a new Monmouth University poll finds residents are feeling better about the qualityof life in New Jersey.

 

 

Sixty-five percent of Garden State residents surveyed now rate the state as a positive place to live. That¹s up four points from April.

Poll director Patrick Murray says the numbers grew the most in coastal communities in Ocean and Monmouth counties.

“That was one area that was hardest hit. That saw some negative drop backin April. That seems to be bouncing back, and I think that¹s asymptom of feeling that things are getting better. With the summer passed, we¹re into the fall and nearly a year after Sandy, people aresaying yes we¹re seeing that rebuilding,” he said.

Seventy-two percent of New Jersey residents now say their own town is a good place to live. They¹re also more satisfied with their local schools and theenvironmental quality in their community.
