9 athletic competitions and a musical mark Saturday’s ‘PC/GA Day’ at Penn Charter

Old feuds die hard.

The 127th rendition of the “oldest uninterrupted schoolboy football rivalry in the United States,” which pits the Penn Charter Quakers vs. the Germantown Academy Patriots, will take place in East Falls at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

This year’s “PC/GA Day” will also feature eight other sports competitions and a pair of musical performances. It’s the culmination of a week which has seen students from both schools engaged in some friendly intrascholastic competitions.

“It’s apparent, when you’re here, how much the students look forward to this particular day,” said Sharon Sexton, Penn Charter’s director of marketing and communications. “The halls in the upper school are decorated with blue and yellow streamers. Each day has a different theme and the different grades compete to see who did it the best.”

At 7:30 p.m. (and again at 2:30 p.m. Sunday), the student production “Back to Bacharach & David,” a revisitation of the song-writing career of composer Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David, will be held at the Kurtz Center.
