Newark Police host fundraising 5K

Newark Police host the 6th annual Memorial 5K run/walk in memory of the town’s former police Chief William Nefosky.
Nefosky served Newark for 28 years before succumbing to pancreatic cancer in 2007.  The run/walk held in his memory has helped raise money for a number of charities involving cancer research and hospice care.  This year’s run will benefit the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Compassionate Care Hospice.  Last year’s race raised approximately $6,500. Since its inception the run/walk has raised over $30,000.  Registration and check-in will be held tonight at 5:30, with the run getting underway at 6:30.
