New sponsor steps up for Philadelphia Marathon
ListenThe Philadelphia Marathon has a new sponsor in Gore-Tex.
City officials worked hard to find the right company to back the race, Mayor Michael Nutter said Thursday.
“When seeking out a title sponsor for the marathon, we wanted a partner who would work with us to enhance our reputation for excellence that has placed us among the top 10 marathons in the country,” Nutter said. “A partner who would share out vision for the future of running in Philadelphia.”
It’s great to be a part of the event, said Kirk Cristensen of Gore-Tex.
“While Gore-Tex is a global company, we are headquartered locally, right in Delaware, and are excited to partner with the city of Philadelphia for such exciting race right in our own backyard,” Cristensen said. “From the beginning, we recognized that we shared a common vision for giving runners the best experience possible.”
