New residential, retail and parking structures planned at Drexel University

Students at Drexel University may soon see some construction on campus as the Planning Commission has given the University the approval to build three residential structures on the 3200 block of Chestnut Street.

In a story from PlanPhilly, commissioners this week gave the university approval for the project.

PlanPhilly reports commissioners needed to approve an amendment to the school’s institutional development district plan, allowing for the construction of two eight-story buildings fronting on Chestnut Street and a larger, 19-story tower that would wrap around 32nd Street.

According to PlanPhilly, existing buildings in the area would not be torn down.
