New offshore wind plan pitched in Delaware
Delaware researchers are pitching a new proposal for offshore wind.
Researchers at the University of Delaware and the National Renewable Energy Lab in Colorado are proposing a small test project in the Atlantic Ocean in a plan made public Thursday by the state’s congressional delegation.
Researchers have applied for federal funding from an offshore wind program at the U.S. Department of Energy.
Gov. Jack Markell wrote in a letter that Delmarva Power has committed to cooperating with the project’s organizers on the purchase of power.
The proposal is much smaller than one pitched by a defunct contract with Bluewater Wind.
