New Jersey students die from flu, meningitis

    Two students in New Jersey have died following bouts with the flu and meningitis.
    Friday, a Burlington County kindergarten student died from flu complications. The district superintendent sent a letter home to parents of B. Bernice Young Elementary lamenting the loss and informing them the school would be cleaned. The child had Influenza B.

    Saturday, 17-year-old Monmouth County resident Chris Dhume died of bacterial meningitis. Dhume became ill Thursday night, but it wasn’t until Sunday that health officials determined he had meningitis. It’s not clear yet how he became ill.
