Neglected big cats get new home at New Jersey zoo

Bad teeth, a missing tail and poor living conditions aren’t just conditions plaguing the Island of Misfit Toys.

They were realities for seven big cats in Texas, who now have a new home in New Jersey. A lion with bad teeth, a tiger without a tail and five cougars are now living at Popcorn Park Zoo in Lacey.

The Associated Humane Societies, which operates the zoo, helped bring the cats to the Garden State after they were discovered to be neglected at their Texas Farm, the Asbury Park Press reports. The cats lacked clean water and a proper diet, and some were living in 4 ft. by 4ft. cages.

They’ll soon meet Popcorn Park’s other lion and cougar.
